Zouk’s New Menu Delights

Summer is on the horizon and we are so excited to share with you Zouk’s new menu delights with some truly spectacular dishes. Including starters, mains, small plates and sides; these new dishes really celebrate the variety and explosion of flavours that Indian cuisine offers.

Small Plates

Butter Chicken Bao – Fans of our restaurant will know our Butter Chicken curry is one of the most popular dishes on our menu.  You can now enjoy it as a starter too in this perfectly steamed boa. Creamy, nutty and subtly sweetened with local honey, we like to think of it as heaven in a bun!

Prawn & Pomegranate Tacos – This street food inspired snack features soft corn-based tacos and fuses Indian cuisine with a touch of Mexican especia (spice).  Each taco is topped with all our favourite things…succulent fried prawns, chilli mayo, Mexican salsa, shredded salad and fresh pomegranate dressing.

Lahori Wagyu Sliders – Our premium halal beef patties use the finest quality Wagyu beef. Each portion has two mini sliders topped with cheese and chutney and served in a melt in the mouth brioche bun. But be careful! They are so darn tasty you wont want to share.

Starters

Chicken 65 – This retro southern Indian dish was first famous in the 80’s and has a mythical quality.  There is much debate over how it got its name but nobody disputes the amazing flavours of this spicy fried chicken dish. Each bite sized chicken piece is coated in a batter that has been infused with ginger, garlic and chilli. It’s so good you’ll want to eat it time and time again.

Pulled Lamb Nihari Calzone – quite possibly one of our best inventions! Our slowly cooked aromatic lamb nihari is something we cannot live without. Now as well as our much-loved signature nihari curry we also serve this authentic recipe shredded and stuffed into a freshly baked naan bread.  Accompanied with yoghurt dip and fresh julienned scallions, it is perfect on its own or as the start to a super Indian supper.

Mango Salad – a salad with style and a treat for the tastebuds! Juicy fresh mango is paired with shredded carrots, onion, coriander and pomegranate then sprinkled with our special combination of chaat masala and lemon zing.

Zouk's new lamb curry - Dum Pukht

Lamb cooked with seasonal vegetables at Zouk in a sealed pot.

Mains

Lamb Shank Biryani – more of a celebration than a main course this extravagant biryani comes topped with a naan bread crust. So tender the shank just falls off the bone; this special dish is served desi style with a tasty aubergine curry side, salad and raita.

Dum Pukht – Tender spring lamb curry slowly cooked with vegetables in a dough sealed pot. Served with a flaming lemon glaze.

Murgh Mirch Salan – A sensational chicken curry with jalapeños, tomatoes and chilli.  Inspired by the classic masala mirch!

If you love a good steak then get yourself down to our restaurant this weekend. We’ll be relaunching the premium halal beef steaks at Zouk Friday, meaning steak is firmly back on the menu. All the meat served in our restaurant is halal and carefully sourced.  Our premium beef steaks are no exception and use only the finest cuts available. A great steak comes from sourcing the finest quality meat and ensuring it is prepared and cooked to perfection.

Each of our premium beef steaks is marinated in Zouk’s special blend of herbs & spices.  This keeps the meat tender and infuses it with more flavour. Our chefs cook each seak to order depending on personal preference. We offer a range of sauces to accompany our steaks. Among the most popular are the Zouk sauce, a delightful spicy tomato based sauce, which compliments red meat perfectly and our very own creamy peppercorn sauce.

There is nothing more satisfying, delicious or nutritious then a tender and juicy steak served sizzling hot straight from the grill. At Zouk each comes with an abundance of hand cut maris piper potato chips and sautéed seasonal veg.

All you need to do now is let us know how you like yours…

Zouk Premium Halal Beef Steaks Include:

Beef Fillet Steak

Everybody’s favourite when looking for a juicy and tender steak. This comes from the finest cut of tenderloin which is the most prized cut of beef.  Fillet is taken from the smaller end of the tenderloin where the muscle is not weight-bearing.  This is what makes this steak so incredibly tender and tasty.

Zouk's Premium Halal Beef Steak

A Beef fillet steak Sizzling on the grill

T-Bone Beef Steak

This much loved steak is sometimes known as porterhouse and is cut from the short loin or sirloin. T-bone steaks contain a small section of tenderloin and are therefore considered one of the highest quality steaks you can tuck into.

Zouk's T-Bone Beef Steak

Zouk’s T-Bone steak is marinated in herbs & spices before cooking

Rib Eye Aged Marble 8oz Steak

This steak is taken from the rib section and is both flavoursome and tender. The marbling of fat throughout the meat and the ageing process give it extra depth. Rib Eye is the perfect steak for cooking quickly on Zouk’s sizzling grill.

Côte de Boeuf

Also known as fore rib steak, this delicious cut is French inspired and full of flavour. Like this rib eye, this cut also has rich marbling throughout giving it a full flavour. As it is cut on the rib bone, extra flavour is released during the cooking process.

Hold onto your hats because we are super excited to announce we have JUST launched our tiffin menu to take away

A firm lunch time favourite with diners in the restaurant, our tiffin is now available for take away.

The Story of The Tiffin…..

Every day in Mumbai thousands of workers look forward to receiving their tiffin lunch.  The delivery of these delicious freshly cooked meals, either from a workers home or their favourite restaurant, by the cities dabbawallas (box carriers) has existed since around 1890.

Traditionally the tiffin box, which usually has at least 3 layers and includes several delights, would be collected by the dabbawalla’s each morning from their customers residence and then delivered to them at work filled with a nutritious home cooked meal.  Today they are often collected and filled from restaurants or specialist tiffin caterers. After lunch once the hungry workers have devoured the contents their tiffin the dabbawallas then take the empty boxes back to the appropriate residence or restaurant. What is most so interesting about the tiffin that in Mumbai it has become a fundamental part of the cities culture.  It is ingrained in the life of the workers and the dabbawallas are so amazingly committed to their trade that the service remains uninterrupted even during the peak of the monsoon season.

The tiffin system is run by simple people who are often illiterate and it has evolved without the use of any technology.  That does not mean that the system is not complex, in fact the service is highly specialised using colour coding, marks, and various modes of transport from trains to bicycles.  In fact the system is so reliable that it’s estimated that the dabbawallas make less than one mistake in every 6 million deliverers. No worker is left hungry!

What we love about the story of the tiffin is that it shows is how important good food is to the residents and workers of Mumbai and because we’re simply mad about food too we were inspired to create our own tiffin meal… Of course the only difference with a Zouk tiffin is that you get to escape your workplace and relish it in the comfort of our restaurant.  We hope you enjoy yours…!

Our Tiffins include a starter, two curries, rice and naan bread and we have a different tiffin each day of the working week with options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans, everyone can enjoy a tasty tiffin treat. Click here to view the menu and see what today’s tiffin has in store.

You can now give us a call or email to order a take away tiffin for collection, and taking inspiration from the dabbawalas in Mumbai we are now offering tiffin delivery catering to offices around the city centre with a minimum order of 10.
