About Zouk Indian Restaurant in Manchester and Bradford
Brothers Tayub and Mudassar Amjad wanted to share their love of authentic recipes with a modern twist, served in a relaxed contemporary setting. Combining street food from the markets of Lahore with traditional dishes from the Indian sub-continent, Zouk is a true melting pot of the very best in modern and traditional cookery. To this day, that same passion fuels everything we do. From sourcing new dishes and ideas around the globe to delivering friendly service with a welcoming smile, everybody at Zouk is here to make our customers experience extra special in every way.
Meet Tayub and Mudassar
The business brains behind Zouk, Tayub has the vision to take the company forward in ever more new and exciting ways. By understanding what customers want from a restaurant experience, he’s able to make sure that the first visit to Zouk is just one of many.
A creative spark bursting with ideas and energy, Mudassar is a true foodie. The only thing that makes him happier than discovering a delicious new dish in the Lebanon, Hong Kong or the Middle East is sharing it with his
customers at Zouk.
The theatre of live cooking is a huge part of the dining experience in India and Pakistan and at our restaurants, we have an open kitchen where diners can enjoy watching the chefs at work.
There is nothing I enjoy more than going for something to eat with family and friends. At Zouk, we’ve tried to create the kind of place we would enjoy eating in. Our restaurants have a lively atmosphere, the food is fresh and full of flavour and the service is warm and friendly. They are great places to discover new dishes and immerse yourself in the Indian dining experience.
If you can’t make it to one of the restaurants there is always chance to catch us on tour at a variety of locations around the country. Since 2010 we’ve been selling our sizzling street style curries and traditional Indian wraps at some of the UK’s leading festivals and outdoor events, from Glastonbury to Rockness and everything in between. Our grab and go style of service keeps you fuelled for the party ahead and makes a refreshing change from burger and chips.
When we dine out we are not eating out of necessity but for the pleasure of the experience which is why it is so vital that a restaurants food doesn’t just satisfy you it should excite and surprise you too. We all have days when we want something familiar and comfortable but done really well and that’s why we work hard with our chefs to offer the best quality classics like Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Karahi. What I love most though is when a customer comes and tries something totally unexpected and it blows their mind. Whether you’re bold enough to go for the Magaz (sheep’s brains) or you just dive into a previously untried dish like Goan fish curry and discover its unique delightful flavour you can have a truly memorable experience at Zouk.
I like working with the chefs to develop new menus and dig into the details of what makes a dish shine. I’m constantly trying to find ways to recreate authentic cooking methods in the restaurant and also for the cooking school so that customers can experience these traditional Indian foods at Zouk and at home.
I also personally oversee the offsite catering events and bookings because I understand how important it is that your big day is full of memorable moments that will dazzle your guests. With our catering service, we can bring Zouk to any part of Yorkshire or Greater Manchester and our live BBQ is perfect for weddings, summer parties and special occasions. We have all the essential kit to recreate our restaurant quality food at a venue of your choice and we’ve worked everywhere from unusual venues like Walled gardens, museums and monasteries to hotels, cricket grounds and even stately homes. We love bringing Zouk to customers and make their event special, however, being based in the north of England the only thing we can’t do is control the weather!
Awards at Zouk
Whilst we’ve won more than our fair share of awards, it has to be said the biggest award we receive is one that we get every day. And that’s to see our customers enjoying the food, service and surroundings we’ve worked so hard to get just right. For us, that’s what it’s all about.
That said, it’s always nice to be professionally recognized by your food industry peers and we’d be lying if we pretended not to get butterflies on the big night. Awards are also a great way to keep us striving to do the best by our customers. So without further ado, let us present the Zouk roll of honour.
