Now it is time to start preparing the dish. The method is super simple to follow, allowing you to create the best Paneer Tikka in just eight easy steps.
- First, make the ginger and garlic paste. You need 75% ginger and 25% garlic. Peel ginger and garlic and dice. Blend with a hand blender by adding a small amount of water to make a smooth paste. Put to one side.
- Dice the cheese and peppers then cut the onions into thick slices and place everything in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl thoroughly mix together the ginger/garlic paste and the mustard oil.
- Add the tandoori masala, yoghurt, lemon juice, all the spices and the seasoning to the mustard oil mixture and then mix well into a marinade.
- Pour the marinade over the cheese, peppers and onions and stir to ensure every piece is coated.
- Cover and chill in the fridge for one hour. If you have made extra this can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Light the BBQ and when the coals are nearly ready take the paneer mixture and make kebabs using fine metal skewers. The skewers should alternate cheese, peppers and onions.
- When the BBQ or grill is ready cook the kebabs until the cheese turns golden. Serve immediately with salad and mint or chilli sauce.
Serving Ideas
The paneer kebabs are best enjoyed hot straight from the BBQ or grill. They make a perfect starter when served with salad and chutneys, especially Zouk's Spiced Mango Chutney!
For a more substantial meal, Paneer Tikka is also delicious in wraps or pitas with salad or served with rice as a main course.
